February Julep Maven

Image

Julep’s choice window opens the 20th of the month.  Julep Maven is $19.99 a month that covers usually 2 polishes and 1 beauty product, or 3 polishes. There are tons of upgrades and add-on’s which I won’t even begin to get into. For February I chose to upgrade to receive all of the polishes but no beauty products.

Image

This was a bonus polish for Valentine’s Day called Love. I wore this and it lasted 3 days with no chips. For me that is good because I am rough on my nails! It is one of the most beautiful colors I own.

Image

These colors are Cameron, Rooney, and Kristen. The stardust finish polishes are phenomenal. I have not tried the other two yet but I love all the colors from this collection.

Image

These colors are Judi, Greta, and Octavia. I was super excited to try Octavia (in the middle) because in the bottle it looks like a bright indigo/bluish/bright purple mix. But on the nails..not so much. It’s just navy blue. I was kind of sad.

Image

These colors are Diamond Theory, Glam Rock, and Roc Solid. Again, the stardust finish polish was just everything. I want every single one. No jokes. The other colors were gorgeous as well.

I used to hate Julep. I had ordered several mystery boxes from them and it was clear that the polishes sent were the ones no one wanted. I was so disappointed in the horrible choices that I boycotted Julep for a very long time. Then they came out with a mystery box that had a great deal on it, making it inexpensive. I thought it was worth one more shot, and they really pulled it off. They introduced 2 new amazing colors, and had fitting polishes to match the boxes theme. Since then I have reopened my subscription and I have been very happy with the choices.

January Glossybox

Image

Oh yes. Another January review. I received this on the very last day of January, so it’s doesn’t count that it’s late. I’ve only now started using all the products. Glossybox is $21.00 and features higher end deluxe samples and full sized products. Glossybox has some of the prettiest packaging of all subscription boxes and truly makes you feel like you are opening a luxe gift.

Image

The Original Beauty Blender- $19.95. Obs it’s not in the box. I already started using it and I didn’t want to show my concealer covered blender so I chose to photograph the box empty. We saw this as a preview for January and I was so excited. This is a must have beauty product.

Image

Balance Me Super Toning Body Wash -$5.67. I love all body washes. Seriously. I haven’t met one I haven’t liked.

Image

Toni & Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Casual Sea Salt Texturizing Spray -$6.25. I want to love sea salt spray. The name alone makes me want it to work. This smells great and I had high hopes. But I have very very fine hair and all this did was make it feel dry and brittle. I was so sad because I have yet to find a product that gives me the volume I need.

Image

Vichy Aqualia Thermal 48 Hour Hydration Moisturizer -$9.18. I really like this cream. It’s the perfect size to try for a couple weeks to decide if you want the full size. It has a very light scent and is a great night cream. It also didn’t make me break out. I can’t say that about every product I tried this month. In fact, one product I tried had me embarrassed to show my face at work for a week.

Image

Bellapiere Cosmetics Mineral Blush -$20.00. I hate mineral products. They are messy and get everywhere. The dust gets all over my face and clothes. This, however, was awesome. I guess because it is a blush it doesn’t matter that it gets all over my face. It is the only mineral product I will ever use. The color is a warm rose with a slight gold shimmer. It’s beautiful for summer. I love it. I can imagine this will look better with a slight tan.

January Beauty Box 5

Image

So it’s late February and I am finally reviewing my January Beauty Box 5 box. In my defense, I signed up in February and as part of the promotion I received this January box free of charge and also a discount on a 1 year subscription. That means I will only be paying about $9.00 a box. Usually Beauty Box 5 costs $12.00 and promised 5 deluxe or full size products.

ImageSwissco Bath & Shower Exfoliating Gloves -$5.00. These are wonderful. I’m sure everyone has owned a set at one point. I was due for a new pair so I was so happy to get these.

DSCN0432

Jergens Daily Moisture moisturizer -$.33. & H2O Spa Body Wash in Lotus -$1.36. The moisturizer is in my purse because it’s the perfect travel size and is a great moisturizer. I haven’t tried the body wash yet because I have a few to get through first, but it smells amazing and reminds me of summer.

DSCN0436

The ‘That Awkward Moment’ Compact is just a small mirror for a movie promotion. I brought it to work and threw it in my desk. I needed a mirror there anyway!

Epic Blend Hemp Coconut Lip Balm -$3.39. When I saw I was getting this I was so excited. I love coconut everything. Then I tried it and hated it because it smelled weird and not what I expected. Now I am completely addicted to it and use it constantly. Weird, huh? It’s easily my favorite lip balm I’ve ever used.

In the box we also received a $5.00 cuticle oil by Nubar, mine is vanilla scented. I must have been pretty excited it about it because I forgot to photograph it and I have been using it daily. lol. I’ll be honest that it hasn’t really done a lot for me and I haven’t seen any results. But keep in mind I live in Wisconsin and it is freezing cold here so my hands are as dry as can be.

All in all, this box was so amazing for me. I realize these are super high end expensive samples, but they are all things I will happily use and I cannot say that about all the expensive stuff I get from other boxes. I especially love this box because it was free. 😉

My 7th Fix

Wow.  I cannot believe I have been with Stitch Fix for 7 months! I’m going to make this a short post because I only took a couple pictures. This month I did something different. I changed all of my price points to be ‘The Cheaper The Better’, usually I have them set at between $100-$150 per item. The biggest difference is that I received all shirts. I usually get an accessory, bottom, and 3 tops.

I can tell the difference. I’ve already changed my price points back to where they were. I did end up keeping this entire fix, but mostly because it was so inexpensive and the 25% discount made some of the items free.

Image

My first look was.. not exciting.

Image

Caramela- ‘Bateman Printed Mix Material Top’ $28.00

This actually looks cute on! It’s retro but I really like it.

Image41 Hawthorne- ‘Dellora V-Neck Bird Printed Blouse’ $28.00

I love the print and design but boy is this shirt cheap feeling. I have to wear a cardigan over it or it looks horrid.

Image Mystree – ‘Donallan Striped Button-Up Cardigan’ $48.00

This is ugly. Yes, I know. But it cost nothing. It’s okay to wear around the house.

ImageKut From The Kloth- ‘Warhol Polka Dot Button-Up Blouse’ $28.00

I was surprised this is only $28.00. It’s so cute! Very comfortable.

Image

Olive & Oak- ‘Mulliken Raglan Striped Knit Shirt’ $48.00

This is my fave item in the box. It’s so soft I could live in it.

So as I said, I kept everything. With the discount I only paid 110.00 which I think is fair.

I would also like to mention that I have my preferences set to only neutral colors and blue. When I had every color selection open I was getting so many weird colored/printed things I wasn’t happy with. I really have been pretty picky about my fixes.

Stitch Fix costs $20.00 a month, which goes towards your total for clothing. Go ahead, try it!

January Empties!

I have never done an empties post before. The thought of not throwing away empties was kind of gross at first. But now looking at all these used products, I feel accomplished and proud. Weird. I also feel more motivated to use up the things I have.

Therapro Mediceuticals Scalp Therapies has a 3 part system to help dandruff and psoriasis. Last winter was rough, it was cold and dry in Wisconsin and I had such a bad dandruff problem. It was embarrassing! This set cost me $36.54 which I consider a lot. And it barely helped. As you can see there is a little conditioner left which I will finish off tonight. Don’t waste your money on this set!

Image

NCLA Designer Nail Wraps  in Peppermint Lane- $16.00. These were great and I loved them for my Christmas nail look. This pack gave me two manicures.

Shiseido Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Papers -$1.85 for 10 sheets. I don’t remember where I got these from. I forgot I had them and finally over a year later have used them up. The full size is 100 sheets for $18.50. These work fine but you I’ve never had an oil blotting sheet that didn’t work fine.

Image

Biofreeze Pain Reliever is an amazing product for pain relief. I received several of these samples from my chiropractor. She rubs this product on my neck to sooth my muscles before she starts the cracking. And now I use it at home as well.

Proactiv Mark Fading Sheets were in January’s Ipsy bag. We were only given 4 to try so I can’t vouch for it’s results.

Chocolate and Strawberry Facial Clay Mask  travel size -$1.99. Ipsy sent 3 paper facial masks a few months ago and with it they included a promo code for a 20 pack of facial masks with a free full sized product for only $20.00. I snapped that up fast! I got to try every mask they make and this was one of my faves. I will absolutely buy the full size. This is purifying and calmed my skin down while smelling like heaven.

Image

Dickenson’s Witch Hazel Oil Controling Towelettes were included in Allure’s summer beauty box- $7.99. They come in boxes of 20. They are okay. I wasn’t too fond of the smell but they were calming and did take off most of my make up.

Juara Candlenut Body Creme was included in January’s Birch Box. The sample didn’t even cover one leg so I have no opinion on this brand.

LA Face Deflection Day Cream with SPF 30- I cannot remember for the life of me where this sample came from. The full size is a whopping $84.00! This was lovely but I can’t justify spending that much on face cream. At least not until I’m old.

Image

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream  is a staple in just about everyone’s purse. I love the smell and everything about it pretty much.  The full size is $28.00.

Skin&Co Truffle Body Gel -$9.00 for 2 oz. I got this with the accompanying moisturizer in my Escape box last month. It’s lovely. I also have the Truffle Face Sereum so I have the whole set! I really love the warm autumn scent of this set.

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream -$12.60. This came in a Glossy Box I believe. It’s pretty awesome but does turn my face pink? Almost in irritation but it calms down pretty fast. It smells like cucumbers. I love this company but prob shouldn’t buy a product that irritates my skin even if I like it anyway!

NYL Organic Whipped Hand and Body Lotion- Um Hi yes buy this. I got this from Beauty Army and is the best product I’ve tried from them. This is chemical free, vegan, cruelty free, etc. And it smells so light and airy. I need this in my life as a constant. I also enjoyed that they wrote an expiration date on it, pushing me to use this more often. The full size is $34.00 but totally worth it!!

The orange scented Details Bath and Body Moisturizer was a birthday gift from a friend. It’s a brand sold at Wal-Greens and is so amazing smelling!! Not a high end brand but it sure smelled like one. I was in love with it!

Image

I went through so much more than I thought! Woohoo. And I’m so happy to have found the brand NYL. They are a new favorite.

January’s Ipsy

For some reason I thought I had already posted my Ipsy review. But apparently not!  At least I have had the chance to be using these products the last few weeks so I can give an accurate review on their performance.

The bag itself was pretty well hated by most. It had a very strong chemical odor that I associate with things that are cheaply made in China. The smell does go away after a few days. I don’t mind this bag but more than likely I will donate it. I have so many make up bags I don’t really have a use for.

Ipsy is $10.00 a month and easily one of my favorite subscriptions because of the low price and consistent quality products they send. You can also review products to earn Ipsy points and refer friends to earn more. You can click the pictures to sign up for your own subscription!

Image

The only true make-up product this month is the Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil in Penny. This is a gorgeous bright metallic eye pencil and looks great under my lower lashes. The full size is $14.99 so I will estimate this at about $7.00.

Image

This is Healthy Sexy Hair’s Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner. I have tried a few products by Healthy Sexy Hair and can say I was already a huge fan. I am so glad I got this product. My hair is very damaged from color treatments and this is a blessing to spray on my dry ends. It smells amazing, de-tangles, and truly makes my hair feel healthy. The full size is $17.95 making this deluxe sample $3.58.

Image

I received this Malin and Goetz Mojito Lip Balm that is full sized and priced at $12.00! Already worth more than the bag itself. I don’t really get the Mojito Scent… I don’t know. I don’t really smell or taste anything. But it’s moisturizing and shiny so I don’t mind!

Also included was Skiin’s Soothing and Smoothing Eye Cream which is a deluxe sample as well with the full size on sale right now for $29.00 (originally $49.00). Skiin’s products are crazy expensive and not really my favorite. I haven’t used this long enough to see any results.

Image

Also included were 4 foils of Proactiv’s Mark Fading Pads. They don’t sell these separately so I don’t have a price point for these. Plus there were only 4 packets so there’s no way to see any results. I did use them… but I’m not really sure why. hah.

So there you have it! Go buy yourself a subscription!

January Blush Box

It always takes me forever to do a Blush Box review despite the fact that it is usually the first box I receive each month. It’s also the most packed full of goodies. The cost per month is $26.95 with shipping and always has a great value. I must have forgotten to take a first looks picture. Whoops!

The first item I saw when I opened this box is called a Leedee. You can get it for $8.70 on Amazon. This is a tool used to exfoliate the skin while showering. You must use it in water or it won’t work. Either way this didn’t work well for me. I have very little results and it was time consuming but at least not painful. I find using exfoliating gloves to work much better but this was cool to try out.

Image

This is the second Klorane product this month and I am so happy about that! This is a full size leave in cream with desert date. It retails for $16.00 and works so well I am excited that this is full size (4.22 oz!) This will last forever!

And the other product is called Harmonized H2O for digestive health. This is another full sized product (3.38 oz) that retails at $30.00! However.. yeah not so excited to use this. I don’t really need any help in that department and I don’t wanna be poopin my pants. haha. I did try a splash to see what it tasted like and it has no flavor so that is good.. Now that I have it.. nobody better piss me off. I have arsenal. hah!

Image

This is a tiny little Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip Plumper in Toyko. Despite being tiny this lipstick is gorgeous and will last at least a month or 2. I want the full size but it is $25.00!  I can’t justify that considering I have a drawer full of lipstick.

Also included is Goldfaden MD. Wake Up Call Overnight Regenerative Facial Treatment. The full size (1.7 oz) retails for $80.00 but this is a smaller sample at .16 oz. I haven’t tried this yet because I have a bottle of a diff. night cream I’d like to get through first.

ImageI received 2 foils for Cetaphil as a bonus with the purchase and isn’t included in the actual Blush Box, they usually include a foil or small sample each month. Cetaphil is a great tried and true product used by thousands. I really like Cetaphil and have this facial wash in it’s full size. But I am excited to try the lotion with it.

Last and not least is Glytone Essentials Hydrate Eye Cream. This stuff is great and I’ve been using it daily. I really don’t have a lot of lines yet so I couldn’t say if this helps any for that, but it’s a lovely gentle moisturizer for the eyes that has the finest sheen. This is also another full sized item that retails for $38.00!

Image

So as you can see, 4 full sized items, 2  deluxe samples, and a bonus small sample for only $26.95! Considering that the 4 full sized items value came up to almost $100.00 alone, I’d say that’s a pretty amazing deal! I may not use 2 of the items, but the value of the ones I will use far surpasses what I paid.
